The Massachusetts Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs recently announced Conservation Partnership Grants totaling $596,475. One of the grants went to the Nature Conservancy, to buy almost 70 acres of the Freitas property in Middleboro. The property is home to five species on the state’s endangered list, and includes a stretch of the Nemasket River, the site of the state’s largest annual herring run.
