I actually discovered this book by accident a couple of weeks ago and found it to be really interesting. It was also very helpful in my research about a specific location/property in Middleboro.

History buffs should be glad to know the “History of the Town of Middleboro” by Thomas Weston has been digitalized and is available online. The 1906 edition of more than 2000 pages can be read online or downloaded to hard drives. The copyright expired, and the book was scanned by Google as part of a project to make the world’s books discoverable online. Weston’s history is full of details beginning in 1621 when Edward Winslow and Stephen Hopkins sent out two messengers to visit Massasoit at Mount Hope. He goes on to chronicle the town’s founding families, land purchases, organizations, gravestones and wars as well as a compilation of maps and illustrations.  Weston was commissioned by town meeting in 1894 to prepare the history and finished at the turn of the century.
