Selectmen are objecting to proposals to spend money received from the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe for the proposed casino on redesigning Everett Square and inspecting the town’s rental units. The board met with Town Planner Ruth McCawley Geoffroy this week to discuss ways to spend the planning money the town receives annually from the tribe. Geoffroy told selectmen there was a balance of $310,710 to be spent, not including the $250,000 received this year. Selectman Vice-chairwoman Marsha L. Brunelle questioned Geoffroy’s suggestion that $25,000 be spent for a strategic plan for the redesign and reconstruction of the Everett Square roadway system, the Oak/Centre Street intersection and the Pearl Street parking lot.
