Army National Guard Sgt. Peter Damon of Middleboro, a helicopter mechanic says that Senator Ted Kennedy befriended after he lost both arms in an accident in Irag. Damon met Kennedy in 2003 while he was a patient at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. The two spoke for an hour about everything from Damon’s hometown of Brockton to the New England Patriots, but not his injury. Damon later learned Kennedy’s son, Edward Jr., lost a leg to bone cancer as a child.
