Taunton’s jobless rate rose slightly in July, marking the second straight month of double-digit unemployment. Taunton posted a 10.3 percent unemployment rate for July, up from 10.2 percent in June, according to the most recent data from the state’s Executive Office of Labor and Workforce development. This time last year, Taunton’s rate of joblessness was 6.2 percent.  Nearly every community in the region also posted increased jobless figures for July. Middleboro’s rate dipped slightly to 9.8 percent, while Norton’s stayed stagnant at 9.7 percent. Unemployment rates in every other surrounding community rose.
