After an override for the schools failed three years ago, Donna Chane decided to help the schools. She pitched the supply program to school authorities, got the green light and turned her garage into a warehouse. Within three years, the program has become such a success that Chane expects to donate $10,000 in profits to the schools. Working from a universal list prepared by teachers, Chane buys supplies in bulk for students in grades K-8 and makes up individual packets tailored to their needs for parents to buy.
The kindergarten packet, selling for $28, comes with six glue sticks, water colors, washable markers, dry erase markers, tape, colored pencils and 500 sheets of copy paper.
The middle school packet, selling for $38, includes construction paper, a three-ring binder, colored pencils, number two pencils, black, blue and red pens, note books, folders, highlighters, glue sticks, index cars calculators and lined paper. Packets for grade 2 are $25; grade 3, $27; grade 4, $20; grade 5, $34; grade 6, $35 and grade 7, $35. Parents who would like to buy a packet should contact Chane at 508-947-0164, or by e-mail at caccmc@comcast.net.
