The Soule Homestead Education Center has begun a $282,000 expansion project to build a classroom, three composting bathrooms and a kitchen. Referred to as the Facilities Expansion Project, the foundation is in place for the addition to the center’s barn. Plans are to have the building enclosed by winter and finished next spring. The three bathrooms and kitchen will be built first, and the classroom will follow. Homestead Director Frank Albani said the project has been more than 10 years in planning. He said the homestead has no bathroom facilities and visitors have had to use portable toilets. The addition also will be handicap accessible, and will allow the center to expand programs since it currently has no year-round indoor facilities.
