Every community in the Taunton area saw unemployment increase in December, and Taunton, Lakeville, Middleboro and Rehoboth broke the double-digit mark. To the south, Fall River has state’s second highest unemployment rate, 16.9 percent, while New Bedford’s is 15.8 percent. Lawrence, located north of Boston, has the highest unemployment rate in Massachusetts, 17.8 percent.
