Selectmen this week approved a $68.38 million fiscal 2011 town budget that includes a 5.5 percent across-the-board cut due to a reduction in revenue.

The budget, which is $779,968 less than last year’s $69.16 million budget, will be forwarded to the Finance Committee for review before town meeting will be asked to approve it on June 7.

Town Manager Charles J. Cristello, who prepared the budget and presented it to selectmen this week for review, said his initial 4 percent across-the-board budget cut jumped to 5.5 percent after learning the town would receive less revenue.
