Two of the Middleboro’s Department of Public Works employees headed to Fitchburg, where they will compete in the state snowplow driving finals at the New England Public Works Expo.

Middleboro’s Jeffery Jenness and David Muse took first place in overall scoring at a preliminary competition on Friday, when each wrangled his plow truck as if it were a tame filly.

Their boss, DPW Director Andrew Bagas, who also tried his hand at conquering a snowplow years ago, said the event is a difficult challenge that promotes safety and camaraderie. Friday’s event, which was held at the Plymouth Airport, was sponsored by the Plymouth County Highway Association, Bay State Roads and Massachusetts Interlocal Insurance Agency.
