The chairman of Middleboro’s Planning Board said the town’s mileage reimbursement rate, which has remained the same for six years, is inadequate and has asked the selectmen to increase it. In a recent letter to the board, Planning Board Chairman Michael J. Labonte asks the selectmen to increase the rate from 37.5 cents a mile to 50 cents. Labonte said the Planning Department no longer has a vehicle to perform inspections and other tasks, and that planning board staff have been using their own vehicles. In October 2010, Middleboro decided to adjust their mileage repayment rates to match the IRS standards for mileage reimbursement.
