This fall Middleboro’s elementary complex is expected to be reconfigured into two separate and distinct schools for children in grades 1-5, but there has been little input from the School Committee since the plan was approved last year. Board member Paul C. Hilton, who favors reconfiguration, said Thursday that it is time the committee was involved in the process. He said it is up to the administration to decide on staffing, but the school board’s responsibility to assign students to each school.
In other business, the board heard next year’s preliminary $26.95 million budget is at least $500,000 short. Interim School Superintendent Michael F. Malone said slight cuts will be made to close the gap.
