Middleboro’s Board of Selectmen voted unanimously to reopen negotiations with Lakeville to develop an intermunicipal water agreement after a developer asked Middleboro to supply water to his Chapter 40B project.
Robert J. Poillucci of South Shore Real Estate Development Inc. in Lakeville said he is ready to break ground on his townhouse project and asked if Middleboro would increase the water usage at 6 Bridge St. from 220 gallons a day to 2,640 gallons a day. Poillucci said he bought the property at the end of last year. Another developer began the project in 2003, “but got caught up in the IMA agreement” and found he had no water.
Town Manager Charles J. Cristello said Middleboro supplies water to 23 residents in Lakeville, but without a formal agreement.
