A unanimous Board of Selectmen issued a permit for 20 dogs to The Pet Salon in Middleboro, explaining it could be increased to no more than 30 dogs once Nolana D. Ricci established herself and proved her business wouldn’t be a nuisance to the neighbors.

Ricci is planning a 100-foot by 70-foot pen, surround by an 8-foot fence that the dogs can’t see through. The pen will be spacious enough to have sprinklers and a pool in the summer, an area for dogs to play ball and one caretaker for every eight to 10 dogs. Ricci said if the dogs start barking they will be stopped and clean-up will be a continuous process.

[Personal Disclaimer: I have been taking my dogs to The Pet Salon for several years. Lana is excellent with dogs and is the only person my dogs actually allow to bathe and trim their nails. She offers a terrific local service and both of my dogs have appointments setup to get kennel cough shots so that I can take advantage of her doggie daycare service.]
