On November 3, 2010, Middleboro voters passed adopted the Community Preservation Act. The 4,371 to 3,795 win for proponents of the adoption of the 2000 state law came as a surprise, given the fact that local voters turned down the program in 2002 when times were considerably better financially.
The second surprise came on October 28, 2011 when the town’s Community Preservation Committee (CPC) joined the current century and rolled out not just a website but also a Facebook page and a Twitter stream.Whether or not you support the passage of the Community Preservation Act in Middleboro is irrelevant. It’s here and it looks like the committee is determined to actually communicate and collaborate with the residents and taxpayers in Middleboro. That’s a good thing.
Maybe the other town committees or – dare I hope – the town itself will take notice of this development and start their own efforts to work with the people they are supposed to be working for.
